It’s a quieter than usual month for the Board. Among some of the more interesting items the Board are scheduled to tackle: •The Board will receive an update on the development of Metro’s fareless pilot program for K-12 and community college students and low-income residents in Los Angeles County. Presentation •The Board will consider a motion to expand Metro’s Eat Shop Play program to help support small businesses near major transit stops as a way to help the local economy recover from the pandemic. •The Board will consider a motion calling for Metro to help develop a memorial to the 1871 massacre of Chinese people at or near Union Station — near where the atrocity occurred. •The Board will consider adopting the Expo/Crenshaw First/Last Mile Plan — a series of potential improvements to help pedestrians and cyclists travel to and from the street level E Line (Expo) station and the new underground station that will serve the Crenshaw/LAX Line when it opens. •The Board will receive an update on Metro’s ongoing Public Safety Advisory Committee that is recommending reforms and updates to the way Metro polices its transit system and facilities.
